Our Senior Management Team (SMT) are responsible for overseeing the academic and administrative leadership of the University.

Each member has responsibility for managing different areas from strategic development to academic development.

Frances Corner

Frances Corner, Warden

Warden, Professor Frances Corner OBE is the academic and administrative leader of Goldsmiths.

Previously Head of the London College of Fashion and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of the Arts London, Professor Corner brings more than 20 years’ experience in higher education leadership to Goldsmiths.

Imran-Chughtai

Imran Chughtai, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Acting Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Imran joined Goldsmiths in September 2021 as CFO. He became acting COO in December 2023 and is responsible for People and Organisational Development, IT and Digital Services, Estates and Facilities, Strategic Planning and Projects, and Communications, Marketing and Recruitment. 

He previously worked for Aamal Company Q.P.S.C, a publicly listed company operating within Industrials, Life Sciences and Real Estate sectors where he was Group CFO.

Prior to Aamal, Imran was Group CFO at Zuellig Pharma, Asia’s largest Pharma distributor, having also worked at Huawei Technologies and Whirlpool Corporation.

Ernest-Caldwell

Paul Rowlett, Interim Pro-Warden Education and Student Experience

Professor Paul Rowlett rejoined Goldsmiths in September 2024 as interim Pro-Warden Education and Student Experience having previously been interim Pro-Warden Academic. He is responsible for strategic oversight of the College’s academic portfolio, education and the student experience and the development of academic staff. He is also responsible for Registry and Student and Academic Services.

Paul is a specialist in French language and linguistics. He was the founding chair of the university council of general and applied linguistics, vice chair of the university council of modern languages and chair of the linguistics specialist advisory group of the then HEA subject centre for languages, linguistics and area studies. Previous interim roles include pro vice chancellor academic at the Universities of Salford and South Wales, head of the school of human and social sciences at the University of West London, and executive dean of the drama school at LAMDA. He also the founding director of the centre of innovation in education at the University of Liverpool and the school of creative arts, performance and visual cultures at the University of Warwick.

David Oswell

David Oswell, Pro-Warden for Research, Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange

Professor David Oswell is responsible for leading the development and overseeing the implementation of Goldsmiths’ Research and Enterprise Strategy.

David joined Goldsmiths in 2001 and from 2013 to 2016 was Head of Department for Sociology. His current research interests concern the social life and history of children, childhood and children’s rights.

Adam Dinham

Adam Dinham, Head of the School of Culture and Society

Adam Dinham is Professor of Faith and Public Policy and Director of the Faiths and Civil Society Unit at Goldsmiths. He previously served as Co-Head of the Department of Social, Therapeutic and Community Studies from April 2020 until July 2022, and was Director of Research in the Department in the lead up to REF 2021.

Adam’s research interests focus on a social justice framing of religion and belief as a protected characteristic in equality policy and practice, particularly across health and social care and schools. He is professionally qualified in Social Work and psychotherapy.

Dr Stephen Graham

Stephen Graham, Head of the School of Arts and Humanities

Dr Stephen Graham is Senior Lecturer in Music and was Co-Head of the Department from 2018 – 2021. Stephen is an active member of the College’s governance structures and committees, including as Chair of the Regulations Working Group.

Stephen’s book, ‘Sounds of the Underground’, was published by University of Michigan Press in May 2016. He has a jointly authored textbook on twentieth-century music coming out on CUP in 2021, and is writing a book on noise music for Bloomsbury.
