Goldsmiths Online and Adaptable Learning (GOAL)

Goldsmiths, University of London, is planning ambitious growth in online learning.

Goldsmiths has a tradition of distance learning, in partnership with the University of London, running the Goldsmiths’ programmes in English, Mathematics, and Computing. The Computing provision has grown throughout the years and now includes an online MSc in Data Science and Coursera’s first undergraduate programme: a BSc in Computer Science. This programme has over 7,000 registrations.

GOAL is a central professional service function. GOAL’s primary aim is to support income diversification and growth at Goldsmiths by delivering flexible learning online. In so doing, it aims to highlight what is distinctive and best about Goldsmiths and reach the people who can most benefit from what Goldsmiths has to offer, irrespective of physical location, time commitments and educational commitments. Goldsmiths also wants to ensure that its online students have an excellent student experience. Staff in GOAL guide, manage, and organise content. In addition, there are currently 17.5 (FTE) academic staff who develop and deliver the programmes.

Going forward, Goldsmiths has exciting plans to broaden the reach and scale of its online programmes by partnering with Online Programme Manager(s).
